Tikka Masala Paste

Super easy to make your own Masala with this paste! Whip it up in seconds, use it straight away or store it in the freezer until you need it. Fab! Some of the spices I have in my pantry are ready ground, others (like Coriander) I only have them in whole seeds, they will be fine to use, just make sure they are ground properly. It doesn’t matter if you have them in either form.


5 Cloves of Garlic
4cm piece of Root Ginger
2tsp Coriander
2tsp Cumin
1tsp Chilli Flakes (more for a hotter Masala)
1tsp Paprika
1tsp Garam Masala
1tsp Turmeric
The seeds from 5 Cardamom pods
2TBSP Water

Firstly, get all of your dry spices and seeds and process in a spice grinder. If you don’t have one, a pestle and mortar will do!

Then add the rest of the ingredients, and whizz or pummel until smooth! It needs to be a thick Paste, but if you find it’s not loose enough to mix, you can add a little more water.

And it really is as easy as that! You never need to buy shop bought paste again!
